BENNINGTON TOWNSHIP
Regular Board Meeting

January 2, 2024

 

 

The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on January 2, 2024, 7:00pm, at the Township Hall.

Present: Jim Forsythe, Matt Dutcher, Lee Ash, Cody Baker, Donna Ash.

L. Ash moved to approve the agenda with additions. Second by Dutcher. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to approve the minutes for the December 4, 2023 regular board meeting as printed. Second by Baker. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented. Second by L. Ash. Motion carried.
Dutcher moved to pay bills as presented in the amount of $27,012.38. Second by Baker. All board members in favor. Motion carried.

Public Comment:
County Clerk Wilson addressed the board regarding the courthouse being reopened and changes to elections with Proposal 2.
County Comm. Garber updated the board on county activities including Animal Control issues.

Board Reports:
Library – Garber – Approved budget, Durand starting renovation.
Plan Co – D. Ash – Recommend approval of one land division.

Roads – L. Ash – 2024 potential road projects were presented to the board for review.

Old Business:
Ambulance Contracts – Notice received from MMR to terminate contract as of March 31, 2024.
Burnham & Flower – Forsythe contacted Burnham & Flower regarding the increase in premium.  Indicated it was due to the increase in asset valuation.

New Business:
Lake Manitou Association Letter – Baker moved to approve the request from Lake Manitou for the removal of Geese on Lake Manitou by Goose Busters. Second by Forsythe.  Forsythe-yes, Baker-yes, D. Ash-no, Dutcher-no, L. Ash – no. Motion failed.
Sons of the American Revolution Letter – Memorial plaque dedication honoring Jacob Doty in Alton Cemetery will take place on June 8 at 3:00pm. 
Salary Resolution – Dutcher moved to approve the salary resolution as printed to allow for salary consideration at the March meeting. Second by Baker. All board members in favor. Motion carried. (Complete wording of resolution available at Township Hall.)
ARPA – Funds need to be committed by the end of 2024 and spent by the end of 2026.  Review along with budget.
FOIA – How long does requested information need to be retain if not ever paid for and sent. One year and one day.
Website – Photo for new website is needed. Review pages from old site for changes.
L. Ash moved to adjourn. Second by Forsythe. Motion carried.
