Regular Board Meeting

October 2, 2023

 

 

he Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on October 2, 2023, 7:00pm, at the Township Hall.
Present: Jim Forsythe, Matt Dutcher, Lee Ash, Cody Baker, Donna Ash.

Forsythe moved to approve the agenda as printed. Second by Baker. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to approve the Minutes for the September 5, 2023 regular board meeting, the September 11, 2023 Ambulance Special Assessment Hearing minutes for both MMR and SSESA and the September 25, 2023 special board meeting all as printed. Second by Baker. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented. Second by Forsythe. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Dutcher moved to pay bills as presented in the amount of $57,570.54. Second by Forsythe. All board members in favor. Motion carried.

Public comment:
Co Comm Garber – Courthouse repairs are complete and offices will return this week. Starting budget meetings. Still waiting on the website to go live.

Board Reports:
Library – Garber – Will be starting the Durand remodel soon.
Plan Comm – D. Ash – Recommended approval of Allstar Auto Salvage Dealer request.
Dutcher moved to concur with the Planning Commission and approve the State of Michigan Dealer Municipality Approval for Class C – Used Vehicle Parts Dealer for Allstar Auto Salvage LLC based on that there are no Municipal requirements in this jurisdiction for the dealer classification requested. Second by Forsythe. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Roads – L. Ash – All  projects are complete for this year.

Old Business:
Zoning – Blight complaints – Discussion to have the Township continues to move forward on the complaints.
Web Site – Forsythe moved to approve the contract with Shumaker Technology Group, LLC with the addition of a total of six emails provided and give the Supervisor or Clerk to sign on behalf of the Township. Second by Baker. All board members in favor. Motion carried.

New Business:
Park Trees – Discussion to move forward with trees in the park and also to place the benches.
Ambulance contracts – No contracts have been received at this time.  There is some concern if MMR will continue to service the county.  Reach out to SSESA regarding their ability to service the entire Township.
Snow Plow Bid – Baker move to approve the snow plow bid from Twinoaks at a cost of $95/snow removal at 2”, $145/snow removal 6” and above, $55/hour for addition plowing and $20/50# of salt installed. Second by L. Ash. All board members in favor. Motion carried.

Forsythe moved to adjourn. Second by L. Ash. Motion carried.
Adjournment at 7:45pm.
