Regular Board Meeting

September 5, 2023

 

 

The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on September 5, 2023, 7:00pm, at the Township Hall.
Present: Jim Forsythe, Matt Dutcher, Lee Ash, Cody Baker, Donna Ash.

Forsythe moved to approve the agenda as presented. Second by Dutcher. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to approve the minutes for August 7, 2023 regular board meeting as printed. Second by Baker. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented. Second by Forsythe. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Baker moved to approve payment of the bills as presented in the amount of $105,500.97. Second by Forsythe. All board members in favor. Motion carried.

Public Comment:
Co Comm Garber – Discussion of Zoning and Blight issues would like to set up a meeting with the Township.

Board Reports:
Library – Garber – Approved a remodel for Durand.
Plan Comm – D. Ash – Reviewed Renewable Energy District and Planned Unite Developments language from the County with no action being taken. Township Board additionally reviewed language for both with no comment.
Roads – L. Ash – Gravel is not yet complete. Cross culverts are being replaced on Morrice Road and Grand River Road in preparation for paving next year.

Old Business:
Roof – Three bids received. Dutcher moved to request separate bid for each project from Brown Home Improvement and give Supervisor Ash authority to make a decision on which bid to accept on roofing for the shed and pavilion. Second by Baker. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Zoning – Blight Complaints – Scheduled a meeting with the county for September 25, 2023, 10:00am, at the Township Hall to meet and discuss issues. Michigan Department of EGLE looked into the complaint at Allstar Auto Salvage regarding disposal of tires and found no issues.
Web Site – D. Ash moved to accept the quote from Shumaker Technology Group to provide a Web Site and maintenance of the site at a cost of $1750 for initial set up and $750 per year for maintenance. Second by Dutcher. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
SSESA Contract Amendment – SSESA is aware of the Township request for annual payments.

New Business:
2023 Tax Rate Request – Forsythe moved to approve the 2023 Tax Rate Request, L4029, and levy millage for Operating at 0.9211, Fire at 1.0, and give Treasurer Dutcher the authority to figure the amount needed for SATA and levy accordingly. Second by L. Ash. All board members in favor. Motion carried.

Forsythe moved to adjourn. Second by L. Ash.
